BODY MVMT is three releases in now and really hitting its stride. The label, an extension of Robert James’ party brand, is all about quality electronic music; house, techno, electro, disco… reflecting the ethos of Rob’s popular shindigs. On this third release, The Vimto Paradox, British producer Harry Wills steps up with three original cuts, plus a remix from his buddy Tim Schlockermann. Harry’s back catalogue includes releases with Holding Hands, subsequent , Orbital London and tons more. His penchant for analogue funk evident across his excellent discography and this fresh new EP…
The EP begins with ‘Waiting For Rob’, a charming cosmic adventure taking us on a jaunty journey through enchanting sonic landscapes. Harry’s ability to juxtapose emotive arrangements with groovy beats and bass makes this one a winner.
Next up is Tim Schlockermann’s rework. The main motif remains, but the atmosphere is totally different with Schlockermann stripping away the density to allow organic sounding drums to take center stage. This esoteric take on the original dares to be different and the payoff is worth it.
Title track ‘Vimto Paradox’ is up next, with Wills cultivating a mysterious, spellbinding vibe throughout. The dense low end keeps you locked in while shimmering, slightly unnerving effects take hold, establishing the eerie tone. Watch out for the squelch!
The EP closes with ‘Cap Snatching’, a quirky electro-fused production that merges multi-layered percussion with off-kilter retro sounds. The pace is relatively slow, Wills making use of the space to let the track breathe and flow. This one seemingly moves and shifts with each new bar, keeping the listener engrossed from start to end…
